Creative Inspirations

I love to look at other people's layouts and projects to see how creative they have been. I figure that most scrapbookers are like me and that's why I provide you with layouts from my CT's and from me. When a designer creates a paper or embellishment, I wonder how they were planning on using it in their own scrapbooking.

Here's a look at 3 more layouts using my latest kit - Go Play in the Yard.

This one was done by my CT, Brandi, showing her little girl on a climbing wall. She took the alphabet that came with the kit to do her main title.

This one of mine shows off the play house my dad built for my 3 kids when they were little. It was the inspiration for this kit.

Using a photo from my teenage years, I created this page to document one of the dates my husband and I went on when we were still in high school! I did this one for myself and for my kids to give them a glimpse of what we were like back then!

I hope these layouts will strike a chord with you and get you motivated to scrapbook some of your older photos as well as the current day ones.

More Layouts with Travel Destination: Hawaii

These layouts were created by my CT Brianna.  I love the open space on this fist layout as well as the clustering she did. Isn't fun to see the different layouts made from one kit?

In this second layout, Brandi used the Surfboard Alpha for her title. She also used one of the layered photo frames for her pictures. Great job, Brandi!

Tutorial from the Scrapable Blog by Lacey Bittner

I have copied this post from the Scrapable blog to give you an idea of the kinds of tutorials you will find there on Thursdays. Be sure to visit the Scrapable blog every week to learn a new way to create in Photoshop!

Hey everyone! Lacey here today with a tutorial. Hope you are having a fabulous week so far! I am going to share with you today how to create a scalloped border using your shape tools and brush tool! I LOVE the look of scallops and you can easily create your own in any size you like- it is a breeze! So let’s get started!
First of all, open a new document. I made mine 12 inches x 12 inches at 300 dpi. I like to do all my elements on a 12×12 doc so I can see what size they will be on the actual layout. Start a new layer and grab your brush tool. Select a hard round brush and use these settings: Diameter 200 px, hardness 100%, and spacing 100%.  My brush color is set to black.
Next you start at the top of your page and holding down the shift key, create a straight row of round brushes down the page.
Go ahead and start a new layer and grab your rectangle tool or rectangular marquee tool, either works for this. If you are using your rectangular marquee tool, just be sure to use paintbucket tool to fill the shape. Next make a thin rectangle the same length of your circle border.
The next step is to move the rectangle on top of the circles to have a straight edge on one side like so:
You can now merge the two layers by going to Layer-Merge Down or by deleting your background layer or hiding it and then going to Layer-Merge Visible. Make sure you do not flatten image with the white background. Your next step is to crop the image so it is a little more manageable.
Your last step is to go ahead and save it as a png file so you can use it over and over again! You can recolor it, clip a solid paper to it, clip a patterned paper to it. The possibilities are endless! Now you can go make your own scalloped border to add to your stash! Play around with different sizes of brushes to make a larger scallop or smaller scallop! Feel free to ask me any questions! You can always contact me at laceybittner@hotmail.com! Have a great day!

Layouts with Travel Destination: Hawaii

Many times the kits I create are designed to fill a need I have in my own scrapbooking stash. This Travel Destinations series is one of them. It's only natural then that I have used my own kit to design page layouts. Here's a couple I would like to share with you.

At our hotel, they had strung hammocks between palm trees all over the property. We took advantage of that and created a "photo shoot" with the hammock right outside our room.

The gorgeous hibiscus flowers that you find in Hawaii are some of my favorite flowers. That's why they are the main element on this page. I loved using the little postcard and postage stamp as a journaling spot!

I hope these pages have given you some ideas for your Hawaiian layouts.
